All About RIEN

RIEN is an artist living and working in Worcester. Having an interest in artistic practice since an early age, RIEN would paint on an easel in the kitchen whilst their mother was cooking. Although painting for many years, REIN’s practice has come to primarily focus on photography and digital editing techniques to explore the female form, what it means to be a woman, and the battle between personal identification and being seen through the eyes of society. After being diagnosed with Social Anxiety RIEN came to reflect upon its cause, establishing a greater awareness and view to the ways of being seen, as well as establishing a feeling of multiple identities: How you see yourself and how the world/society sees you.

RIEN’s work, Inside the Black Box, has been published in a local zine: Rising Issue, which aimed to address pressing and current global issues within individuals under 18. Recent exhibiting took place in March 2020, a weeklong group exhibition titled Corporis, which explored the human body, ideas around gender and our relationship with the body, through a plethora of media, such as photography, digital composition and performance.
